Company profile

Frost of Scandinavia is a non profit making organisation which has been set up to organise international summer schools for students and professional singers and accom-panists from Denmark and abroad. The aim of the summer school is to inspire, while developing and expanding the knowledge of the participants. With teaching at the highest international level it is possible for the participants to develop both technically and artistically. Unlike many summer schools where the participants may work only a few times with the resident professors, here they receive intensive, individual attention, with lessons every day in both singing and coaching.

In 2005 Frost of Scandinavia began with a pilot project at Vestervig Kirkemusikskole (Church Music School) in Denmark. It was an intensive week with 12 singers and 2 accompanists. Noelle Barker was the voice teacher and Audrey Hyland coached the singers and the accompanists as well as giving daily individual lessons to the accompanists. The participants came from Denmark, England, Belgium, Sweden, Poland and Russia. The Kirkemusikskole is situated between the north sea and a fjord and the young musicians were able to relax and enjoy the beauties of nature between lessons. Thus refreshed, they could benefit totally from their tuition. The combination of first class teaching, excellent food and glorious surroundings made the first summer school an outstanding success. The concept now known as The North Sea Vocal Academy (NSVA).

Our ambition is to put Denmark on the international map of musical life. This can best be achieved by offering a broad programme of courses over the summer with internationally renowned teachers. The most important tools for a successful school are already in place: - The expertise of top international teachers - Idyllic natural surroundings to enhance the benefit of the teaching - Fine food - A lively interchange within an international group of students. We wish to make it clear that Frost of Scandinavia is a non profit making organisation. We are therefore able to keep costs at an absolute minimum and in so doing, make no increase to the fee for the participants.
