Frequently asked questions

Who can participate in the courses?

The courses are open to anyone. As the tution is individual the teaching will be on your level. However, you should have conservatorie experience to benefit from the course and not feel misplaced. We have participants who are students, professional singers and anything in between. The mix of participants is what makes the special athmosphere where it is safe to experiment.

Which repetoire should I bring?

We suggest that you bring a mixture between of Opera, Oratorio, French Melodie, and German Lieder. If you have something in particular you want to work on feel free to bring it and bring some ensembles to have fun with. Some of the ensembles could perhaps be sung at the concert. Remember copies for the pianists.

There is no music library in the area, so be sure that you bring all the music you need for the course.

What is the price for a course?

Can I get financial support (bursary)?

There are a few bursaries available for participants unable to afford the full cost of the programme. We will emphasize that the total amount to support participants is limited and that it is only possible to support a few participants. We ask participants to apply at all other possible funds to support their studies at the North Sea Vocal Academy.

If you wish to apply for a bursary you have to inform Frost of Scandinavia about that at enrolment. At the latest 15 of April Frost of Scandinavia must have an application by post of mail in which the participant set out which other funds there has been sought, and the necessity of support to participate in the programme.

How do I enroll?

Start by sending an email, see the "Contact" page, remember to specify which course you are interested in. We will reply with a confirmation and banking details. You have to pay a deposit of DKK 1000,00 to ensure our place.

How do I pay?

You have to make a money transfer either via homebanking or in your bank. We do not accept cheques, remember that cost for transfer has to be covered by you.

You will recieve our banking information along with the confirmation of your reservation.

Can I get a single room?

There are a few single rooms available for an extra cost, you can see how much in the brochure you an download on the "Course" page. The rooms will be given after who comes first, so please ask in advance if there is one available.

What if I have a special diet?

Food will be prepared daily by our own staff. If you have any special dietary requirements please let us know in advance. We are happy to take any conciderations towards your needs. It is our aim to serve fresh and healthy food prepared from locally sourced ingredients.

Drinks to accompany the food such as; Wine, beer and soft drinks can be purchased at Skibstedgaard; tap water of course is free.

How do I get to Thy?

There are several ways to get here. Please refer to to the menu item "How to get there" on the "Courses" page.

Can I bring my family?

You cannot bring your family along to Skibstedgaard. The flats are shared by participants and we must ensure a tranquil environments for all. However, we will be happy to help you arrange other accomodation e.g. renting a summer house for you and your family to stay in.
